DataMAX v3 is here! Better sandbox seeding for all

Exciting news: the latest version of the DataMAX sandbox seeding tool for Salesforce^® has now been released!

The new, improved DataMAX is a huge leap ahead – an even smarter, more powerful way to streamline and speed up sandbox seeding. All kinds of advances have been made and new functionality built into this product.

What is DataMAX?

DataMAX allows you to populate (“seed”) testing or training environments (“sandboxes”) with data that is based on your real-life production data, but in which anything sensitive (e.g., your or your customers’ private information) has been masked or obfuscated. Crucially, the relationships within the data are maintained, making it as “realistic” as possible.

You can use this realistic but safely anonymized data in your sandboxes without needing to be concerned about compromising anything sensitive. Compliance with data privacy regulations, such as the European Union’s GDPR, can now be embedded in your testing processes. Furthermore, because it’s based on real data,  and even includes the same relationships as your actual production data, it will also give you far more accurate behavior/results.

Scenarios where DataMAX makes a big difference

The new level of realism DataMAX brings to your testing data can be particularly valuable in quality assurance (QA) testing. Now you can get more accurate results during tests such as “if” scenarios, AND stress and capacity load testing.

What’s more, with DataMAX, your entire DevOps process is scalable and more efficient. Data uploads can now be done flexibly, on-demand, rather than only in the standard 30-day refresh cycle, saving time and costs. What’s more, granular backups from a production org to a sandbox can be easily performed, providing cloud-based disaster recovery support.

As well as DevOps and QA testing, another great DataMAX use case is populating demo environments with realistic but non-sensitive data. This can be particularly valuable if you need to demonstrate a solution to show a customer during the presales process. During such times, customers will often wish to see a demo that most accurately represents their business’s own situation, but will be wary of using their own data – so DataMAX solves the problem by allowing you to create realistic, representative data.

1. 2x better performance

Backend performance has been radically improved, with enhancements made to optimize speed and efficiency during data migration, ensuring faster record transfers between organizations. Not only that, but you can also enjoy smoother template creation with pagination during the loading of the object tree.

2. Transformed UI and UX

Thanks to the user experience (UX) improvements that have been made, DataMAX v3 provides you with a more intuitive and user-friendly user interface (UI) for enhanced usability. If you’ve used previous versions of DataMAX, you’ll notice the difference straight away.

3. Checks and validations

You can now ensure data integrity with metadata validation during job creation, highlighting discrepancies and showing deltas of objects and fields.

4. AI-driven data generation

Now you can unlock the power of AI to generate diverse, realistic data for obfuscation of original records.. Supported countries include the USA and Canada, and supported data types include Full Name, Phone Number, Email Address, Range, Picklist and Dependent Picklist (based on another Picklist).

5. Support for .CSV files

DataMAX previously offered the ability to use Salesforce orgs for source data, but With DataMAX v3, you can also easily upload flat .CSV files to replace records during migration with values from flat files. Files are stored on the backend and – very importantly – don’t count towards Salesforce storage limits.

What else is new?

Deduplication by reference fields
Users can now set duplication rules based on reference fields. This makes it much easier for you to maintain the best quality in your data, by eliminating duplicate data.

Automation visibility
DataMAX V3 allows you to view active triggers and validation rules on the destination org before starting migration jobs.

Job reminders
Now you can stay organized by adding comments or notes to jobs before initiating them, facilitating better communication and collaboration.

Target organization size estimation
This feature allows you to confidently plan ahead by estimating target org space before starting migration.

Migration template size estimation
You now have the ability to understand space requirements for migration templates to ensure smooth transitions without unexpected storage constraints.

Batch size configuration
In DataMAX v3, you can adjust batch sizes for more control and flexibility during the migration process.
