How CAP UK, VRP and Salesforce are revolutionizing debt advisory and its impact

At VRP Consulting, we are fortunate to help some very worthy causes in the nonprofit sector. We want to share one of our latest success stories with you – Christians Against Poverty UK (CAP UK), a great organization that is transforming the work of their debt advisory service, and its impact, with the power of Salesforce^®  technology.

Their mission: to end UK poverty 

CAP UK’s overall goal is to end poverty in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. They partner with local churches across the UK to offer a free debt advisory service to people struggling with financial difficulties, to help them become debt-free. Their highly vulnerable clients often need advice as quickly as possible due to the pressures of their situations. In fact, in CAP UK’s 2023 Client Report, 46% of respondents said they had “considered or attempted suicide as a way out of debt before seeking help”. That’s why it’s imperative that CAP’s hard-working debt coaches and advisors can work together, and with their clients, as smoothly and effectively as possible, with visibility over all the information they need.

When we met CAP UK, they wanted to transform the digital infrastructure that supports the very valuable work they do. Their existing tools, based on an open-source platform, no longer met their needs and those of their client base. They were disconnected, with data siloed, meaning getting a complete view of each client and their case was difficult, slowing down processes and inhibiting their skilled teams from working to the best of their abilities. Furthermore, the platform didn’t offer the flexibility and scalability that would empower them to expand, innovate and flourish in the future.

CAP UK wanted to help more people in need, more quickly. We wanted to help them do that. 

The transformative power of Salesforce

Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud was the ideal new platform to support CAP UK’s work. It would enable the instant, effortless visibility they needed into each client and case. Not only that, but Salesforce Experience Cloud would allow them to simplify and expedite how they collected vital information that could be used to build a client’s road out of debt. 

VRP’s team quickly set to work putting these technologies to good use for CAP UK. With Nonprofit Cloud, they unified CAP’s vital tools for budget management and document capture into one seamless system, with all data linked and easily accessible. They built a new budget-builder, case management functionality, and recommended next best actions. Finally, the team created a new web portal, using Experience Cloud, for debt coaches to capture information and documents (such as bills) which debt advisors and clients could work with when determining the best debt advice. 

With their new, transformed technology infrastructure, CAP UK has the potential to dramatically reduce the time it takes to provide debt advice. What’s more, now that they have the scalability and flexibility of Salesforce – and aren’t dependent on expertise-and-labor-intensive full-code software development – they can adapt and meet their and their clients’ changing needs in the future.

Creating a lasting impact together 

Edd Parker, CAP UK’s Head of Debt Help Product Innovation, spoke to us soon after the project was completed. His words were incredibly moving and motivational to everyone at VRP Consulting. Here they are:
